Celebrating South Asian Heritage Month 2025 with Neelum Aftab’s Art at Browne Jacobson

This summer, my artwork finds a new home – at least for a while – within the walls of Browne Jacobson, the nationally renowned law firm based in Nottingham. I’m delighted to share that a curated selection of my paintings will be on display there from 18th July to 17th August 2025, in celebration of South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM).

The theme for this year’s SAHM – “Routes to Roots” – resonates deeply with my creative practice. My paintings are rooted in migration stories, cultural memory, and identity, reflecting the journeys undertaken by diverse communities who have made Britain their home. These visual narratives do not merely recall the past, but honour the evolving, multifaceted identities of the present.

As a British South Asian artist, it’s an honour to represent not only my own experience but the wider creative contribution of South Asian artists to the contemporary British art scene. My work explores what it means to live in the ‘third space’– that liminal place between cultures – and how heritage continues to shape and influence our everyday lives.

The exhibition is a celebration, a reflection, and an invitation – to explore, connect, and perhaps see your own story within the brushstrokes.

All artworks on display are available for sale, offering an opportunity to take home a piece of this meaningful journey.

📍Where: Browne Jacobson LLP, Nottingham
📅 When: 18 July – 17 August 2025
🎨 Theme: Routes to Roots – South Asian Heritage Month 2025

If you’re in Nottingham this summer, I warmly invite you to visit the exhibition. Whether you’re discovering my work for the first time or have followed my journey for years, I hope these paintings will speak to you.

To enquire about available artworks or commissions, please get in touch via my contact page or follow me on [Instagram] for behind-the-scenes updates.

Let’s continue the conversation about identity, heritage, and belonging — one canvas at a time.
